Matrix and a leading UK retailer with 350 European stores, have worked together for over 3 Years, creating multiple men’s and women’s bath, body and fragrance ranges.
The retailer approached Matrix when they were looking to expand their existing core skincare offering. Primark wanted a skincare range with trending ingredient stories and rich sensorial textures. The brief allowed Matrix to propose a selection of products that fulfilled the client’s requirements and tapped directly into the Matrix trends which had been identified at the time.
The Matrix team took a collaborative approach, drawing on skills from the design, retail and technical departments to pull together a strong range offering which met the needs of the client brief whilst remaining commercially competitive and quick to market.
The technical team worked to identify overarching ingredient trends and categorised these by sourcing ability. The key benefits and potential claims of this ingredient shortlist were then outlined to help filter the findings further. The best ingredient stories were then developed further and individual product concepts finalised with the client in line with the brief.
The design team finalised their trend analysis and distilled their findings into individual product areas. These product trends were then combined with the ingredient concepts to further develop the range. At this stage, the technical team worked with the factory to create initial packaging and formula samples with the desired product performance.
Matrix collaborated with the retailer to finalise the product specification for final artwork and production. With production complete and approved for shipment, the skincare range launched in store.
The best ingredient stories were then developed further and individual product concepts finalised with the client in line with the brief.
