The Matrix Brand Partnerships team are self-confessed beauty junkies and a trans-Atlantic trip was the perfect excuse to bust out some of our favourite products (and road test some new ones).
Here’s our reviews & recommendations for an in-flight skincare routine following a recent LDN-NYC visit….
Caudalie Micellar Cleansing Water:
- This is a step up from a face wipe that removes all traces of make-up and leaves skin feeling genuinely clean, hydrated and soothed. The only downside is you need cotton wool so it’s not as convenient as a wipe
- The formulation is really gentle so great for sensitive skin and using in the drying environment on-board
- Rating: 3/5 (in-flight faff rating only – the product gets a 5!)
- RRP: £15
GlamGlow Thirsty mud:
- This product is multi-purpose which makes it great for travel as you can adjust use for different skincare needs as you go; a quick 15-minute mask, an overnight sleep mask & an in-flight moisture lock-in – working hard to save you space in that tiny liquids allowance bag
- The mini version is just the right size for a short trip
- Leaves skin feeling properly moisturised and suitably glowy
- Rating: 4/5
- RRP: $59
This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray:
- Proven to help you fall asleep faster & wake up feeling more refreshed so it’s great for a night flight (just be careful where you’re spraying!)
- The lavender fragrance definitely helps you feel relaxed and calm so also good for any nervous flyers out there
- Rating: 5/5
- RRP: £19.50
Omorovicza Queen of Hungary mist:
- This is the perfect wake-me-up, mood lifting product with an amazing neroli & rose fragrance
- It can be used on both freshly cleansed skin and as a hydrating spritz throughout the day so great for a refresher mid-flight or when you wake up after a night flight
- An absolute travel must-have!
- Our rating: 5/5
- RRP: £55
Origins no puffery cooling roll-on for puffy eyes:
- The yeast extract in the formula claims to reduce puffiness and other actives help to calm skin and reduce redness
- The product feels amazingly refreshing going on but I can’t say I noticed a huge difference and once the product was absorbed into the skin, it felt slightly drying so not my favourite travel item
- Would probably not use again
- Our rating: 3/5
- RRP: $29
Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo:
- Gives a good lift & volume as well as being the standard refresher for dirty hair
- Our rating: 4/5
- RRP: $23
Summer Fridays Jet lag mask:
- If it’s good enough for Kim Kardashian, it’s good enough for us!
- We tried using this on-board after a night flight but actually, it’s a bit tricky as ideally you want to wipe it off with a warm cloth after 10 minutes. We had to improvise with cotton wool and I don’t think we got the full experience or benefit but skin definitely felt smooth & bright and had a dewiness you would not normally associate with overnight travel
- Our rating: 3/5 for use on the plane – switch use for a stay at home pamper session
- RRP: $48
